Sports Illustrated 1967
Pete Romero is an All American distance runner and graduate of UTEP class 1971. He led the nation in the high School Two Mile event while attending Reedley High school in Reedley,California. Pete was featured in a Sports Illustraded article in the June 26, 1967 issue for running one of America’ greatest triple runs. He ran a 2 mile in 8:53 , a half mile in 1:56.6 and a mile run timed in 4:15 all in the same track meet.

Today he is the founder of the California Hispanic Athletic and Sports Foundation.
